Flensted, a moving world with timeless design

Christian Flensted made his first mobile, the stork mobile in 1953, together with his wife Grethe to celebrate the birth of their first daughter. The Mobile Centre in “Frederiksminde” in Brenderup, Denmark is still in the same family, now with Aase and Ole Flensted in charge. Their clients include The Tate Modern and the Guggenheim Museum.

If you have a troubled mind, watch a mobile and unwind

The Flensted Mobiles are designed in a certain way that the elements are in constant movement, while the entire mobile maintains a harmonic balance, producing a calming effect for both you and your child. Prices from £11.95.

What is the nature of a mobile? A balance of opposites. The weights assert gravity – the feather-vanes defy it. A mobile is poetry in motion. Visual Poetry.
The mobile’s life is hanging by a thread, But there is still life. You can prove it: If one day you should think its heart is dead, A friendly whispering will move it.” E.F.

  1. I am having a Flensted mobile in my house, it is having fishes and it is kind of awkward seeing fishes fly. But i really like seeing them like this and the elephant one is nice too.
