Wool Week by thescandinavianmum featuring cardigans

The Campaign for Wool stages Wool Week, a week long festival of events and workshops celebrating wool. The Campaign for Wool was initiated by its patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, in order to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique, natural and sustainable benefits offered by wool. The week long celebration, the Wool Week is commencing today, Monday 14th October. See what’s on at campaignforwool.org

Scandinavia is known for keeping the long traditions with wool used in clothing. Wool is in fact more popular than ever, due to new technology, sourcing the softest and most comfortable wool fibres. Scandinavian children’s brands with lots of soft knitwear and wool includes FUB, Bock Cph, Esencia, As We Grow, Little Mountains, Jumina and Mole Little Norway. Pretty sweaters and cardigans and dresses in fine knit for children are found in kidswear brands such as Memini, Dundelina, Norlie and Poppy Rose. Luxurious knitwear is also found in high end children’s brand Pale Cloud. There’s also the super trendy soft toy and home accessory brand LuckyBoySunday that creates everything in the softest alpaca wool.
Children’s shops that specialise in wool products include MamaOwl, Mayamin, Mormor and Ellas Wool

So, in case you don’t knit, there’s plenty of opportunities to wrap up warm for Autumn. Inspired by wool week, I’ve just agreed to go on a monthly knitting meetings with some friends. If you have any patterns or helpful ideas on where to start, please let me know! Share the love for knitting and Happy Wool Week!
