The family lifestyle store Olive Loves Alfie, with Scandinavian and British clothing for children, homewares, creative toys, books and modern heirlooms, has opened up a second branch in London.

East Village is an area of East London that was designed and constructed as the Olympic Village of the 2012 Summer Games and has been converted for use as a new residential district. Once the accommodation for famous athletes, the development with its surrounding parks and playgrounds is today attracting young professionals as well as young families.

Trendy cafes, restaurants and bars as well as independent shops and galleries are one by one moving into the ground floors business premises in the village. One business that are among the pioneers is the family lifestyle store, Olive Loves Alfie.

Olive Loves Alfie is a well established concept store in London with a online shop as well as a charming boutique in Stoke Newington. The owner, Ashlyn Gibson is also know as the author of two design books; Creative Family Home and Creative Children’s Spaces. Ashlyn is an passionate artist and a stylist – and she was also one of the first to introduce the modern kids shop in London, introducing us to gorgeous colours, great quality and emerging brands.

So there’s no surprise she’s the first one to check into East Village either. As we unfortunately missed the launch party a few weeks ago – we spent this windy Monday in East Village, taking lots of pictures to share with you.

Ashlyn told us that with all this space she’ll be inviting to events and workshops throughout the year. Make sure you are on her mailing list to receive invitations!

The shop is located only a 3 minutes walk from Stratford, with excellent transport links (8 minutes to Kings Cross.). If you want to go and check it out, walk out of Stratford International, straight ahead through the giant orange pots (yes, you are a bit of Alice in Wonderland here…), up the hill and then straight ahead, passed the first block. Then walk left, through the middle park and you’ll soon see a giant Silver Pram with a disco bowl(!), leading the way into the design haven, Olives Loves Alfie. There are two amazing cafes, one on each side. So no need to bring a packed lunch! There’s also a playground a stone throw away – Ashlyn will show you were it is.

Meanwhile – check out what’s in store online at OliveLovesAlfie.co.uk
