Being a pioneer in creating Scandinavian children’s designer wear danish designer Christina Rohde started up back in 1991. The label is known for a romantic, nostalgic almost bohemian look with their loose and flowery print on soft cotton made into the most comfortable yet stylish garments.
However it seems like the label Christina Rohde are renewing themselves slightly this season, or so it seems from their presentation of the collection.

And some more AW pics, only a bit more like how we used to know Christina Rohde

If you look closely many of the garments are still the same, with the same typical Christina Rohde signature cut and finish.
So, what do you prefer? The more nostalgic look or the new almost “geek chic” style?

It’s that time of the year again. When you are finding yourself in one of the larger department stores, with a note in your hand saying you’re number 58, and still you’re happy to wait.
More and more parents fit their children’s shoes themselves and by following some simple steps they will find the perfect fit for their child and can purchase shoes with out waiting for hours.
What to consider when buying new footwear for your child:
Size: Measure the length while your child stands. Add another 10-15 mm to the foot and you’ll have the length of the inner sole of a shoe that fits length vise. There should be about a thumbnail’s length between their toes and the end of the shoe, to allow room for growth and movement. You can also measure your child’s feet by downloading and printing a foot-measuring guide online. But remember that shoe shapes and sizes vary between styles and brands just as they do in clothing. Make sure you always ask for measurements before you buy shoes online. Also several online shops offer a return possibility in case they don’t fit (or you don’t like them after all). Children’s feet grows quickly, in average 15-18 mm per year. So it’s important to measure your child’s feet often and at at least every second month.
Style: Choose shoes with a round tip and low heel and that are made of leather or fabric that breaths. High heels should be avoided because of the pressure they put on growing toes.
Price: Expect to spend £30 to £40 on a well made pair of school shoes. They are an investment for good foot health even if children outgrow them quickly. And buy new shoes as it’s not a good idea to hand shoes down from one child to another as no two pairs of feet are the same.
I have to tell you about my last experience with buying shoes from a specialist shop with the help of a qualified shoe-fitter. He measured my Little Scandinavians feet and then asked us to wait while he got the right size from the storage room. He then came back with size 13 instead of 3. (more…)

One of our absolute favourite children’s online clothing shops is danish House of Kids, founded in 2005 by Helle Guldmann.
She started the business at home on her spare time with the brands Mini A Ture, Okker Gokker, Serendipity, Rützou and MP. Since then the business has grown, with more customers, brands and employees.
Today House of Kids are a well established online shop in Denmark, known for providing excellent customer services and for their impressive selection of designer labels in store. You’ll find everything from children’s clothings, shoes, accessories and toys.
We think that part of the key to their succsess is knowing what the customers want because they know how to use the online and social media to communicate with them. House of Kids have a solid and loyal group of customers that are both members of their customer club where they receive news about coming stock, sale, events etc. But they also have a Facebook group facebook.com/houseofkids where they communicate directly with their customers, discussing current season collections and making wish lists for the coming.
We think; Brilliant! Well done! Way to go!
Only obstacle; English language is not available as an option… Anyway, for inspiration or if you happen to understand danish visit houseofkids.dk and let us know what you think.

Norlie was established in 2005 in Denmark by Camilla Liedner and Kirsten Noergaard, and they are already well known for the innovative and exclusive knitwear line for both babies and children 0-10y.
However, soft jersey qualities have been an important part of the Norlie collections, too, and to ensure the continuing development of the brand, a woven line has expanded the collection to complement the knitwear and jersey clothing to create a complete collection. When wearing Norlie, the child can feel comfortable in clothes that have a timeless simplicity, freedom of movement, and pure fabrics in delicate soft and breathable materials.
Norlie has also quickly gained its popularity not only for the high quality and design but also because the CIFF’s patroness, HRH Crown Princess Mary, dresses the Price and the Princess in clothes from Norlie.
Little Scandinavian loves Norlie for the beautiful finish and details, the subtle colour palette inspired by the Nordic atmosphere and for the soft and luxurious materials.
Visit www.norlie.dk to see more.

CIFF’s patroness since 2005, HRH Crown Princess Mary, will at the opening day, the 12th of August 2010, visit CIFF and CIFFKIDS.
During her stay she will attend the trend shows for CIFF and CIFFKIDS.
Since 2004 Crown Princess Mary has steadily worked to establish her relationships with various organisations. Mary’s patronages range across areas of culture, the fashion industry, humanitarian aid, support for research and science, social and health patronages and sport.
Also, there is good news! Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has revealed that she is pregnant with twins.
The Tasmanian born princess married Crown Prince Frederik in 2004. The couple already have two children, 4-year-old Christian and 3-year-old Isabella.
Crown Princess Mary was named one of the top 10 best-dressed women of 2010 in the September edition of Vanity Fair.
We think she’s utterly gorgeous!

Leading Danish stylist Quinee Balsov, the house-stylist of CPH kids August 2010, offers 5 tips on children’s fashion this autumn
1. Mix the two trends
The two trends “Color Play” and “Nature” can easily be mixed – but do it in moderation: for instance, a striped and colorful hat with a natural-colored set of clothes.
2. Give the outfit edge
Create contrasts and edge by combining the fine, romantic dress with a pair of rough, woolen stockings. Or combine striped trousers with a spotted blouse.
3. Let go of the reins and let the kids choose for themselves
With advantage, you can let your child choose the outfit themselves. Parents are often positively surprised by their kids’ sense of style. And particularly this fall, gaily-colored elements and ideas are super trendy.
4. Let kids be kids
Luckily, in Denmark we understand that first and foremost, kids’ clothing has to be practical and comfortable. Leave it that way: The clothes must fit the everyday life of the child – not the other way around.
5. Think sustainably
No matter whether you or your child goes for “Color Play” or “Nature”, it pays to think about sustainability. Second hand clothes is trendy – also for kids. And when you buy new, then go for high quality that can be passed on. It serves both the style and the environment.
Quinee Balsov is a kids’ stylist and has styled kids for many years. She has worked for a wide range of Danish kids’ magazines and is a regular stylist for CPH kids.
CPH kids is a children’s fashion fair for professionals. It takes place during Copenhagen Fashion Week.
