The BANGBANG Copenhagen Spring Summer 2012 collection features stripes with subtle grey and black teamed with splash of spring colours like yellow, purple, coral and denim blue with fun details like black sequined embroidery and 3D bow, bow tie and cat’s whiskers. New this season is the cat which symbolizes the feel of playfulness and independence. We quite like the cat as there’s obviously something slightly cheeky about it but still it’s bright enough to get away with it!

The London based online shop and heaven for cool kids styles Quirky Collective (you do follow the ImQuirky Blog, no?) will be stocking some BangBang Copenhagen for Spring Summer 2012. Should be in store within the next couple of weeks!

Gudrun & Gudrun + Wovenplay = True

Have you heard the latest news? CPHkids claims there’s something going on between Gudrun & Gudrun and Wovenplay…

Inspired by the brand’s Nordic roots the organic label Gudrun & Gudrun are well-know for their ethical produced knitwear, each piece in the collection handcrafted using locally sourced lambskin, fish leather and yarn. One of their bestsellers being the famous knit sweater from the Killing 2
This is an unusual collaboration, Faroe Islands meets NY, must be the recipe for an eclectic collection; The ecological rough styled knitwear in wool from Gudrun & Gudrun combined with the more refined Wovenplay, that prides themselves with creating modern, sustainable couture for the everyday artist and adventurer. New Generals Autumn Winter 2012 backstage

Last week ethicool Danish brand New Generals invited press, buyers, agents and friends to a runway fashion show at CPH kids in the setting of Carlsberg’s old mineral water bottling factory DANSEhallerne. Little Scandinavian attended and we are still busy looking through all our shots from the show. Meanwhile we thought we’d share a fun backstage video with you -enjoy!

CIFF kids featuring AW12

CIFF kids take great pride in being one of the largest fairs in Europe, gathering both adult and children’s fashion under one roof. The honor of having HRH Crown princess Mary as the Patroness of CIFF and CIFF kids is a clear statement of the importance of children’s fashion in Denmark. Little Scandinavian was invited along with the press during the Copenhagen Fashion Week to see what the exhibitors at CIFF kids had in store for Autumn Winter 2012.

I had a few stands that I really had to see, one of them being Ticket to Heaven. And even though this is a brand that is all about technical and functional outerwear they’ve actually managed to sneak in fashionable florescent colours for AW12 in their skiwear collection. I also quite liked the retro padded unisex jackets, reminding me of my old ski jacket in the early 80′s. This is in addition to the more traditional Ticket to Heaven outdoor clothing that we all come to love.
Another great find was the shoe label EN FANT. It’s amazing how much they’ve transformed and developed their collection of children’s footwear in very trendsetting ways, especially worth mentioning is the lightweight snow boots and sheep fur indoors slippers in metallic colours. EN FANT have really managed to create a great combination of functionality and fashion.
Talking about fashion, Small Wings were probably one of the more trendsetting brands exhibiting with a fantastic eclectic collection with lots of unusual and rough details for AW12. No wonder this was one of the designers HRH Crown Princess Mary wanted to visit last Friday, with the poncho by Small Wings being one of my favourite items for AW12 in general!
In other news, the Bestseller brand, Name It has launched a up scale collection with a more luxurious look for both boys and girls. Name It is more known for serving us with affordable children’s wear with quite an extensive collection to choose from. Another brand, Danish Holly’s is a long term favourite of mine and their clover print, now with a metallic shine for next Christmas is something you should look out for. 50′ style Rockefella is the brand to watch, especially when looking for boyswear. Egg Kids is a Swedish brand for the toddler, with lots of very cute and kind animal friends featuring as happy prints on the cotton collection.

Little Fashion Factory and its founder, Jeanette Petersen were hired in by the Bella Center’s PR department to welcome and guide the press around the exhibition. I must say that having a rep for press is a very clever way to do it, making the visit run smoother and so much nicer. With limited time I sadly missed out on the daily fashion shows but heard only good reports from others that had attended. The free shuttle bus between CIFF kids and CPH kids running every half hour was also a great service, making life easy for all visitors.

I’ve left my comfortable but slightly quiet home office in London and relocated to the cold North! For 4 days I’ll be located in the middle of the buzzing trade show CPH kids in Copenhagen. It all kicked off yesterday, with the show opening for buyers and press, featuring fashion forward and breakthrough design and fashion for children. It’s well known names from the industry, fashion brands like Wovenplay, Noa Noa Miniature, ESP no. 1., Petit by Sofie Schnoor, Norlie, Waddler, Mini Rodini, top shoe wear brands like Angulus, Pom D’api, Bisgaard, Naturino, Primigi, Hunter and Pom Pom Sko, it’s interior toys and accessories from Lucky Boy Sunday, Sebra, Blafre and Normann Copenhagen. The no wall trade show for kids style creates an excellent and cozy ambiance, with the zone concept, trendy music, clever use of lights -Combined it creates a great vibe and as the ultimate meeting point for people in the fashion industry.
And I’m so happy to be here, to be taking part. I’ll be posting updates both here and on the CPH kids blog. Please follow, and do let me know what you want me to check out! So far I’ve had requests for boys wear in particular and also tweens. There’s also been a request about seeing the main trends in colours. All of it will be featured, I’m researching as you’ll be reading this!

The Crown Princess of Denmark to visit CIFFKIDS

It has just been announced that HRH the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark will be visiting CIFFKIDS on Friday.

“HRH Crown Princess Mary has visited CIFFKIDS several times in the past and it’s always a pleasure and we also do appreciate the fact that she has set aside time to walk around the fair and greet our exhibitors. CIFFKIDS aims to become Northern Europe’s largest children’s wear trade fair and that HRH Crown Princess Mary chose to visit the fair is very significant to us.”, says the Fashion & Design Director Kristian W. Andersen.

HRH the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is the Patroness for the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, since 2005.

Bubble London AW12, day 2

Monday 30th of January and last day of Bubble London this time around. The Business Design centre in Islington London was filled up with exhibitors, both for fashion but also for more practical clothing as well as kids decor and accessories.

Among the highlights from the trade show was the newcomer Indikidual with their funky collection for the independent toddler. We loved the quality of the cotton, the simple prints and fun colours. Christina Rohde has some gorgeous fabrics and timeless pieces that newer goes out of fashion, but has also added a few more minimalistic and chrome garments this time around. FUB does not disappoint after their strong SS12 collection, but follows up with unisex knits in retro stripes with details like wooden buttons. Both Mini Rodini and Shampoodle were present with charming people on the stand showcasing their trendy signature style unisex collections, Shampoodle with lots of lovely natural shades in green and grey, for children up to 10 years and some adults clothes too. Jumina and MyCinnamonGirl, both Norwegian brands but representing very different styles; Jumina being a favourite among the press with its clear concept and sustainable focus. My CinnamonGirl offering country chic leisurewear and also this season proven to very popular with a mum & daughter collection. Aya Naya and Phister & Philina is great examples of what’s on in Denmark at the moment, with children dressing in layers in a casual but sweet style. Molo Kids had a huge stand with people from HQ in Denmark present and excitingly featuring the very latest prints and styles with the outwear section even furthermore improved as well with both warm coats and proper snow boots. Talking of which, Kivat was present with the new young lady in charge, that has just recently taken over this Finnish family business. Kivat is a best selling brand in Scandinavia, especially known for their high quality woolen hats. And that leads me to the agent Raindrops, showcasing outdoor clothes like Nowali, Celavi and Abeko. Not so much fashion but then again it’s never been fashionable to be freezing cold!

Pale Cloud is sort of towering on it’s own as arguably the most fashionable brand at the fair with it’s very trendy 30′s style glamorous collection in the utterly most luxurious fabrics and knits. With this collection for Autumn Winter 2012, their third, Pale Cloud has proven that they are a high end designer brand presenting haute couture for children. We would be most surprised if this collection would not be featured in some of the most prestigious stores around the UK for the coming winter!

After experiencing the Nordic nature and climate when living in Norway Mummymoon really shows and interest and appreciation of nature. We love this little video (and music), showing that nature and natural is the main trend for AW12.
