Outdoor fun in the snow with clothes by Isbjorn of Sweden

And I thought I had left Scandinavia and the arctic winter yesterday only to realise it had arrived in the UK as well while I’ve been gone. The ScandinavianDad and the girls had really enjoyed being outdoors over the weekend, and when driving up the road where we live there were literally a snowman greeting me outside each house house!
Here are a few pictures of Little A yesterday, having fun in the snow dressed properly from top to toe in premium outdoor brand Isbjørn of Sweden. (Isbjørn means polar bear in Swedish). Little A is keeping warm and dry all day wearing the 3 layers:

1. The Kiddie roundneck and pant 2. Rib Sweater and Microfleece pant 3. Padded Winter Parka and Ski Pant
She also has the Knitted Cap “Isbjorn” and the wind and waterproof winter gloves made of recycled soda bottles(!).

School’s open today, but I can’t wait for the girls to come home in the afternoon to enjoy a bit more of fun in the snow!

I’ve left my comfortable but slightly quiet home office in London and relocated to the cold North! For 4 days I’ll be located in the middle of the buzzing trade show CPH kids in Copenhagen. It all kicked off yesterday, with the show opening for buyers and press, featuring fashion forward and breakthrough design and fashion for children. It’s well known names from the industry, fashion brands like Wovenplay, Noa Noa Miniature, ESP no. 1., Petit by Sofie Schnoor, Norlie, Waddler, Mini Rodini, top shoe wear brands like Angulus, Pom D’api, Bisgaard, Naturino, Primigi, Hunter and Pom Pom Sko, it’s interior toys and accessories from Lucky Boy Sunday, Sebra, Blafre and Normann Copenhagen. The no wall trade show for kids style creates an excellent and cozy ambiance, with the zone concept, trendy music, clever use of lights -Combined it creates a great vibe and as the ultimate meeting point for people in the fashion industry.
And I’m so happy to be here, to be taking part. I’ll be posting updates both here and on the CPH kids blog. Please follow, and do let me know what you want me to check out! So far I’ve had requests for boys wear in particular and also tweens. There’s also been a request about seeing the main trends in colours. All of it will be featured, I’m researching as you’ll be reading this!

The Crown Princess of Denmark to visit CIFFKIDS

It has just been announced that HRH the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark will be visiting CIFFKIDS on Friday.

“HRH Crown Princess Mary has visited CIFFKIDS several times in the past and it’s always a pleasure and we also do appreciate the fact that she has set aside time to walk around the fair and greet our exhibitors. CIFFKIDS aims to become Northern Europe’s largest children’s wear trade fair and that HRH Crown Princess Mary chose to visit the fair is very significant to us.”, says the Fashion & Design Director Kristian W. Andersen.

HRH the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is the Patroness for the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, since 2005.

Bubble London AW12, day 2

Monday 30th of January and last day of Bubble London this time around. The Business Design centre in Islington London was filled up with exhibitors, both for fashion but also for more practical clothing as well as kids decor and accessories.

Among the highlights from the trade show was the newcomer Indikidual with their funky collection for the independent toddler. We loved the quality of the cotton, the simple prints and fun colours. Christina Rohde has some gorgeous fabrics and timeless pieces that newer goes out of fashion, but has also added a few more minimalistic and chrome garments this time around. FUB does not disappoint after their strong SS12 collection, but follows up with unisex knits in retro stripes with details like wooden buttons. Both Mini Rodini and Shampoodle were present with charming people on the stand showcasing their trendy signature style unisex collections, Shampoodle with lots of lovely natural shades in green and grey, for children up to 10 years and some adults clothes too. Jumina and MyCinnamonGirl, both Norwegian brands but representing very different styles; Jumina being a favourite among the press with its clear concept and sustainable focus. My CinnamonGirl offering country chic leisurewear and also this season proven to very popular with a mum & daughter collection. Aya Naya and Phister & Philina is great examples of what’s on in Denmark at the moment, with children dressing in layers in a casual but sweet style. Molo Kids had a huge stand with people from HQ in Denmark present and excitingly featuring the very latest prints and styles with the outwear section even furthermore improved as well with both warm coats and proper snow boots. Talking of which, Kivat was present with the new young lady in charge, that has just recently taken over this Finnish family business. Kivat is a best selling brand in Scandinavia, especially known for their high quality woolen hats. And that leads me to the agent Raindrops, showcasing outdoor clothes like Nowali, Celavi and Abeko. Not so much fashion but then again it’s never been fashionable to be freezing cold!

Pale Cloud is sort of towering on it’s own as arguably the most fashionable brand at the fair with it’s very trendy 30′s style glamorous collection in the utterly most luxurious fabrics and knits. With this collection for Autumn Winter 2012, their third, Pale Cloud has proven that they are a high end designer brand presenting haute couture for children. We would be most surprised if this collection would not be featured in some of the most prestigious stores around the UK for the coming winter!

Bubble London AW12, day 1

Home after a afternoon well spent at the Trade Show Bubble London in Islington. Met with some great people in the industry, talked to some absolutely lovely retailers and agents and some very inspirational designers. Here’s a photo journal of our day.

Ella & Otto was founded by the designer Tania Urban in London in 2008, and are focusing on children’s bedding and accessories. With the products Tania brings together her experience as a designer and as a mother of four children. Raised in Sweden she now lives in London with her family.
We think worth noticing is the children’s bedding with it’s stand out print and the nature inspired organic range for babies.
