How to keep feet warm? Breathable Angulus Winter Boots.

As soon as the temperature drops below 0 degrees non breathable wellies should be left on the shoe rack. Did you know that children’s feet perspire, the equivalent of 2-3 tablespoons of water on a winter day? Danish footwear specialist Angulus offer the ultimate in Scandinavian style and comfort. The Angulus TEX range in particular keeps feet warm and dry in cold weather, with the TEX membrane designed with micro-size pores to allow perspiration from the foot to escape from the inside of the boot while at the same time preventing water from entering the boot from the outside. Angulus TEX boots is made of TEX membrane and leather, with wool lining, available in European sizes 20-34. Childrensalon have a few models available, prices from £91.

Did you know? Wearing cotton socks during winter weather have the potential to make the feet colder than if you wore no sock at all! Wearing cotton socks in winter weather is a recipe for frostbitten toes because cotton socks have little insulation value and because they absorb and then hold moisture, making the feet not only wet but also cold.
We recommend ski socks or wool socks to keep tiny feet warm and comfortable. A large amount of heat leaves the body through the feet so it’s really important to keep them warm in winter time (below 0 degrees). This goes for tights as well. Look for wool tights to wear under the school uniform on the coldest days.

Bundgaard shoes goes organic

During Copenhagen Fashion Week this August at CIFF Danish shoe brand Bundgaard launched a collection of organic children’s footwear, following the trend with all things organic.

It’s the British designer Penny Leese that’s behind the collection. Leeses lives and works in Denmark and she has created her first shoe collection within the brand’s philosophy of creating comfortable footwear that works with the natural development of children’s feet.

The organic collection offers two styles of sandal, three styles of shoe and one style of slippers, all available in red, brown and blue and will be in stores from spring 2011.

Bundgaard is own by one of the oldest and largest shoe manufacturer in Denmark, Sanita Footwear and are well known in Scandinavia for creating high quality footwear for children (similar quality as Bisgaard and Angulus).

We have had Bundgaard sandals for the girls and we were very happy with them. Would love to try out the organic collection too!

Street look London: Urban Jungle

We met this little fellow in a playground near Soho yesterday, extremely cute and adventures, playing imaginative games with a few new pigeon friends he had made.

Dressed very comfortable and yet with an understated urban style in danish clothes -in fact after a quick chat with his mum I found out they were danish!

This little guy was wearing a cool tshirt from Molo and shoes from Portuguese label RAP, a brand that has been available in Denmark for more than 30 years. I’m not quite sure about what jeans he was wearing, but I really liked the casual turn-up style.

How to get the look:

Any funky stripy or and bold print t-shirt from Katvig or Molo will work.
We recommend I Dig Denim or Rockefella jeans but any favourite comfy pair is perfect.
Choose leather sandals of good quality, like Angulus or Bisgaard.

Angulus Starters for those first steps

Children usually starts walking sometime between seven months and two years of age. When babies start standing and walking on their own they are ready for their first walking shoes. Things are a bit wobbly to start with, but improvements will come soon enough. There are some activities to help your baby and toddler develop walking skills like crawling together, walking on uneven surfaces like sand and climbing which is great for coordination, independence and muscle development. Babies feet don’t have bones, just soft cartilage. Well fitted soft and flexible shoes offering lots of support are therefor recommended at this delicate stage. Choose shoes designed to match the shape of a child’s foot, with a wide front and narrow heel that allow growing room around the toes. And by choosing leather shoes your babies tiny feet will have increased comfort, allowing perspiration to escape through the surface of the shoe. And what we think is very important; Don’t hand shoes down from one child to another, because two pairs of feet are never the same shape! For us as parents it can be an emotional moment seeing your child in their first pair of walking shoes, but make sure they combine style, quality and fit. Never compromise on fit, because a toddler’s nerve endings are not developed yet so they may not notice a painful constriction, and may not be able to complain even if they do. Children’s feet can grow really quickly so make sure to check their feet and size regularly.
Danish Angulus has launched Angulus Starter, with a perfect fit for babies. Angulus was founded in 1904 and their shoes are therefor not only made with love an care but also more than 100 years of experience. Angulus Starters are flexible and will support your child’s feet and making those first step a moment of true joy and happiness. Available in size 18 – 23 in colours like camel, off white, red, pale pink, chocolate, black and silver.
