A lifetime in fashion; Mads Norgaard

The label ‘Mads Nørgaard-Copenhagen’ shares its history with the shop Mads Nørgaard. When Mads Nørgaard opened his shop in Denmark October 1986 he soon realised there where certain clothes he wanted but couldn’t find. He therefor started producing his own designs. This was such a success that the collection was bought by other shops too.

He has since then had a fantastic career within fashion, both with his shop and his own label but also working with several projects such as ‘The Copenhagen Experience’ -a fashion film and a tribute to youth and Copenhagen.
Mads Norgaard Copenhagen first children’s line was launched in 2009. The signature style is simple, functional with a retro twist.

We are very much looking forward to see their AW11 collection at CPH Kids in February. Meanwhile, the picture to the left shows a piece from their current collection, the Janino jacket. To see more visit madsnorgaard.com

Nova Star cool soft Swedish children’s design

Recently we met up for a coffee and a chat with charming Nina. Nina, originally from Stockholm Sweden, told us smiling and excited that after having her son Isak in 2009 she wanted to find an alternative to checked shirt and dungarees for boys. She got very much into unique street-style clothes purchased in Scandinavia. And after lots of comments and questions about the urban, unisex and super comfortable children’s wear Isak was wearing she decided to share the Scandinavian secret with the UK and founded her own agency, Fun Little Things, in 2010, with the current main focus on Swedish children’s fashion label Nova Star.

Isak, truly enjoying his Nova Star hoodie

Danish quality shoes byKier

It’s not only established brands like Angulus and Bisgaard that spoil us with a fantastic range of footwear for our little ones.
Like Pom Pom byKier is also a newcomer as a danish brand within shoe design.

Behind the brand is the Danish designer Lone Kier who has 15 years experience as a shoe designer for famous shoes brands, like ECCO and Bundgaard but has since 2005 focused on developing the brand byKier. Lone is trained as a shoe designer at Cordwainers College in London.

byKier make designer shoes for children and tweens in sizes 19-41 in addition to their adult collection. byKier is sold directly from Denmark to the consumer which enables a lower retail price.
Their idea is that all children should be able to get trendy high quality shoes at reasonable prices. Why pay more than you have to and why drag you child from shop to shop to find the right shoes if you can do the shoe fitting and purchase in the comfort of your own home.
byKier is also environmentally concerned, ensuring that all shoes are produced with an awareness of the impacts on workers, communities and ecosystems.

Exquisite embroidery by Soft Gallery

With Soft Gallery, the cut of the clothes may be simple, plain and comfortable, but it’s the detail of the embroidery and the sequins that make them completely different. The current AW10 collection is no exception:
