Katvig and recycled cotton

Always in the lead, Katvig is proud to introduce recycled cotton, a brilliant new way to make use of the enormous amounts of cotton that would normally go to waste. 25 percent of the world’s pesticides are used on cotton, 40 percent of all cotton goes straight in the bin as pure waste.
The result is a different material that is softer and lighter. I find it quite reassuring to know that leading fashion designer companies has such a strong emphasis on environmental care.
And talking of Katvig, their High Summer 2010 collection is out! Set shown underneath is in organic cotton, choose between pink or green.

Spring Summer from Wonderful Wheat

I’ve mentioned Wheat before. The company that is known for gorgeous children’s clothing (up to size 10) is out with another gorgeous Spring Summer collection.

This is high quality items combined with great design at affordable prices. F.ex. the picture that shows the dancing girl. She’s wearing a Wheat silk cardigan and leggings with a gorgeous tulle skirt. The tulle skirt has a retail price around £24.
And what’s so brilliant with this label is that in addition to 2 seasonal collections a year they do have a rather extensive basic collection as well.
For more Wheat clothes visit KidKid.co.uk or check out their list of stockist in UK here.

Pure underwear -pure joy

Wear bamboo and soy – wear the absolute best. Lilleba offers underwear for children that has the ultimate in design, comfort, and look.

Clothes worn against the skin should be soft, with a minimal amount of seams and free from itching tags. The Norwegian design team Silje Sivertsen and Nina Eikerol combine Nordic traditions and a clear cut look with the most modern qualities. They also consider a safe production of clothes under conditions favourable to people as well as the environment.
This underwear is especially recommended for children with sensitive skin or eczema. As for soy, besides being soft as cashmere, it is a vegetable protein fiber with qualities similar to those of wool. It is also UV protective 50+. The fabrics do not contain formaldehyde, which can cause both allergy and cancer.

Amélie and Beatrice has a underwear set each from Lilleba consisting of a spaghetti strap vest and matching briefs. And they are so excited about how soft it is, how warm and dry they feel and the cut and style -we simply have to get hold of more! It’s not the cheapest -but well worth it.
I’ll definitely be considering Lilleba’s nightwear collection while I’m at it. And maybe something for mummy too?!?

New shoes and sandals for spring summer

We’ll almost think summer is here with temperatures over 20 degrees this weekend. And it’s definitively time for spring and summer shoes!
Children’s feet grows quickly both in length and with, in average 15-18 mm per year. So it’s important to measure your child’s feet often and at at least every second month.

I’m a bit mad when it comes to this and measure my little Scandinavians at least every month because I’ve experienced that they suddenly can do a growth spurt.

Picture on the left shows gorgeous open toe sandals from Bisgaard in this seasons fashionable coral finish that any girl will love.
Made from 100% leather these are soft, comfortable, hard wearing and long lasting.
Available in EU sizes 26 – 31 at £49.99 from Kidsen.co.uk

What to consider when buying new footwear for your child:

- Measure the length while your child stands. Add another 10-15 mm to the foot and you’ll have the length of the inner sole of a shoe that fits length vise.
- I prefer shoes that has a round tip and low heel and that are made of leather or fabric that breaths.
- It’s recommended to always try on the shoe before buying, to make sure it fit in the with as well. But if you know the with of your child’s foot, and you know the brand you are buying, it’s not too risky purchasing online either. Also several of the online shops offer a return possibility in case they don’t fit (or you don’t like them after all).

Todays naughty purchase

My blog friend Smudgetikka kindly reminded all her readers about Stella McCartney for Gap Kids‘s launch yesterday. I wasn’t too excited about this as I think Gap is Gap, regardless of designer. Gap is were I buy leggings, t-shirts and jeans.
Only this morning I passed a Gap store and couldn’t pass without having a look at the collection. I ended up buying lots for both Beatrice and Amélie as this clearly was not ordinary Gap stuff. Knitted tunics, gorgeous delicate blouses flared soft jeans and linen skirts. A bit pricey for being Gap, but I think it’s well worth it. Who could possibly resist buying such beautiful clothes?
So thanks for mentioning it, Smudgetikka!

Malou Barré launching webshop

MaLou Barré was established in 2007 – a Danish brand characterized by exclusive children’s clothes. The style is classic and elegant with a timeless hint of subtle details and a distinctive touch of romance. With a no-compromise attitude regarding fabric quality, the clothes are meant for well-dressed comfort. For boys and girls 2 – 10 years in addition to some gorgeous accessories.
I’m very excited about the launch of their brand new webshop. Only obstacle now is what to choose when I would love to buy the entire girls collection!
This spring summer collection is so inspired by Astrid Lindgrens characters, Emil and Madicken, which I absolutely love. Check out Emil shirt and trousers for boys, adore the cut and finish.
