Girl leather boots in grey a proper show-stopper for this season

Little A was hopping happy this morning, wearing her brand new leather boots. It’s Non Uniform Day at school since it’s the last day before half term -and all you with children that wears uniform at school would know what a treat that is!

Babysteps.dk is a Danish online shop that sells a geat selection of children’s shoes in all sizes from brands like Bundgaard, Petit by Sofie Schnoor and many other of our favourites. They also stock Dutch brand, Shoesme, winner of the award “Cool Kids Brand” in 2008 -also worth checking out!

Little A got a pair of Shoesme grey leather boots this week. Our order was made Thursday night, dispatched from Babysteps.dk on Friday and arrived at our house in London the following Monday -oh how I love the Internet!

The quality is superb, comparable to the slightly more traditional Danish Angulus, made in high quality leather, soft lined inside and rubber soles to avoid water (and snow). Little A said her feet felt really warm, even when the temperature dropped to nearly freezing the other day.
The finish of the boots are exquisite like everything from the colour of the boot -like a grey-blue almost shiny distressed (hard to describe but we’ve received so many compliments already!) the buckle detail, the sole and even the inside stitches are done with such and attention to detail.
Here’s a snap shot of Little A on her way to School this am. I’ll make sure to take a few more pictures when she comes home.

Venturing into children’s shoes this year she has now launched a preview of her coming collection, her very first, for Spring Summer 2012. The shoes comes in a bright yellow and white shoe box together with a matching drawstring bag. The nude pink ballerinas are on Little A’s wish list. And the yellow pair… and…

-If Carrie Bradshaw would have been 6 years old, Manolo Blahnik could just forget about it!

Finger in the Nose Nordic trend for AW11

Fair Isle knit, checked shirts and dresses, nature and animal prints and even Troll has made it on to some of the tee’s. No question that the Autumn Winter 2011 collection by the Norwegian designer behind the French based brand Finger in the Nose is influenced by Scandinavian traditions and the Nordic countries nature. We love the mix and match of pattern and fabrics that take this collection up to a more urban and modern level. We think this collection, arguable the best collection so far, shows that Finger in The Nose does a lot more than well fitted and cool jeans. www.fingerinthenose.com
Notice the fur boots in picture 4? It’s Selskinnstøvler or seal skin boots. The ultimate winter boots in Norway, made by the Norwegian brand Topaz is warm, long-lasting and very popular among Norwegians. www.topaz.no

Nordic Clemente Copenhagen felt slippers

Clemente is a Danish company that designs and produces handmade felt shoes for baby, children and adults of 100% wool from Norway. The combination of design and quality of the wool makes these warming slippers special and unique.
The slippers is available in a variety of styles and colours in only organic material, European sizes 15 to 48.

www.clemente.dk

Felting is an ancient craft, being the oldest man made fabric and has a sustained heritage. There is a strong Nordic tradition of felted boots, socks, hats, and mittens. Through the Viking influence in the British Isles with years of trade, conquer and plunder there is evidence of similar felted items such as carpets, saddle blankets, clothing, and artwork.
The term felting refers to taking an animal fiber (most often wool), shaping it in some way, then, through a process of very hot water and agitation, converting it into a tightly cohesive fabric.

We use felt slippers at home and it’s nothing that’s more comfortable to wear during the winter months.
