MarMar Copenhagen AW10

One of our favourite brands, danish children’s fashion label MarMar Copenhagen, are about to send out another stunning autumn winter collection to the shops.

With a goal to achieve toned down elegance for children, where romantic appearance and sharp graphic prints are the contrasts the label strives to offer a window into a world of fashion for little people that creates its own subtle style statement.
With detailing restricted to only the most important elements and muted colour tones, it can almost come as a surprise to find an eye-catching twist in their collection. MarMar Copenhagen is contrasting mix of contemporary functionalism and classic vintage.

Sadly I haven’t been able to find MarMar’s beautiful design pieces in the UK, only their basic wear. Please let me know if you know where to find soft cotton prints, subtle coloured knits, funky leopard leggings and romantic fluttering tutu’s.
In other words, MarMar is one of the brands that make me look so forward to visit Copenhagen in February!

Lovely Lucky Boy Sunday

Lucky Boy Sunday was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark on a sunny Sunday in August 2007.
The talented Danish designers behind the brand (Camilla and Camilla) are very fond of offbeat characters and their collection includes an unusual family of friends each knitted from 100% soft alpaca.
They create two retro and quirky collections every year including soft toys, graphic pillows and wooden toy or furniture pieces.

The autumn winter 2010 collection from Norwegian label MeMini is about to arrive in the shops. And MeMini really shows off with their high quality knitted garments in the nostalgic style we love. There are quite a few must haves here; Like the knitted vest for the boys and the knitted dress for girls as shown below.

Also worth having a look at is the jeans collection from MeMini as it is so comfortable yet stylish.
And we’ve previously mentioned the rain wear. The Memini raincoat is our favourite piece for this coming rainy season!

Warming hand knitted news from Mormor

I’ve mentioned danish label MorMor earlier. A danish company filled up with knitting grannies! All garments are delivered with a signed note, from the granny who knitted the piece, especially for your child. If you can’t find what you are looking for on their site mormor.nu they will be happy to receive any requests too.

They’ve been knitting over the summer and have now launched a few warming autumn news that we really like;

  • A versatile dress that are elastic enough to be converted into a vest and can therefor be a favourite piece for years. Hand knitted in 100% merino wool at £50.
  • Soft and warm set consisting of hat, scarf and gloves. Hand knitted in 100% merino wool at £61.
  • Fashionable short sleeved chunky cardigan hand knitted in 100% alpaca available in several colours at £89

Norlie – fit for a prince or princess

Norlie was established in 2005 in Denmark by Camilla Liedner and Kirsten Noergaard, and they are already well known for the innovative and exclusive knitwear line for both babies and children 0-10y.

However, soft jersey qualities have been an important part of the Norlie collections, too, and to ensure the continuing development of the brand, a woven line has expanded the collection to complement the knitwear and jersey clothing to create a complete collection. When wearing Norlie, the child can feel comfortable in clothes that have a timeless simplicity, freedom of movement, and pure fabrics in delicate soft and breathable materials.

Norlie has also quickly gained its popularity not only for the high quality and design but also because the CIFF’s patroness, HRH Crown Princess Mary, dresses the Price and the Princess in clothes from Norlie.

Little Scandinavian loves Norlie for the beautiful finish and details, the subtle colour palette inspired by the Nordic atmosphere and for the soft and luxurious materials.

    Baby blanket turns into tent

When I was pregnant with Amélie knitting became back in fashion again. You could see young ladies knitting whilst going for a cup of coffee with friends in several cafes in Norway.

In Oslo the shop Nostebarn was the ultimate hot spot for mums (and -to be’s). They sell yarns of natural wool and knit recipes for the most beautiful little garments. Also really popular was the Nostebarn Baby Blanket. For me that had barely touched a set of knitting pins before this took ages to knit. But was well worth it, as Amélie loved it. It was snuggly and warm on cold days and cool and soft on warmer days.

During the last days it has made it’s reappearance into the children’s room. Now serving as a roof of their new imaginative home.
    “No adults allowed, mummy!”

Maybe the knitting pins should reemerge from the cupboard as well?
