Lille Barn for Spring Summer 2011

The popular brand Lille Barn is about to launch their new collection for Spring Summer 2011 online by the end of this week, the 20th of March.
The UK based childrens wear company produces garments available in cotton, (including an extensive organic range) bamboo and soft merino wools and cater for children from 0 to 6 years of age.

Lille Barns signature style is simple, with a Scandinavian feel to it as the head designer is Norwegian.

This season there is chunky knits, fine cotton cashmere blends, daisy print, ditzy print, multicoloured bamboo, solid bamboo, oxford denim, sailor print and striped poplin.

We love the fine knits that are practical (washable and easy to put on and off). Wonder if Little A should get a summer dress this year. It might be her last chance if Reidun is not considering extending the sizes, to fit older children too.

Lille Barn (Little Children) has managed to create yet a lovely collection in organic merino wool, organic cotton and Bamboo. The London based Norwegian talented and most charming Reidun Oliveira is the head designer behind the brand, and for her the quality of each piece and the love and comfort the child will experience by wearing it is what’s important. She has also chosen to have all her garments produced in Europe, and yet they are still surprisingly affordable.
Lille Barn is clothing for babies and children up to 6 years. Her knitted winter collection in the softest Merino Wool is what the customers really love. But I must admit, this summer collection can not be a disappointment for all Lille Barn fans. Many items like the all in one suit shown to the left is the typical Lille Barn signature style. There is also some lovely fabrics and romantic summer dresses to be found. And many items are mix and match.
But what we are especially impressed about is the boys collection. Chunky knitted organic cotton sweaters in different colours. Comfortable shorts for those hot summer days. And we simply love the reversible jacket with matching bucket hat! Don’t miss out on this one!

Highlights of Bubble London

Visiting the largest trade fair for children’s clothing in the UK, Bubble, was fun and slightly hectic as it should be with lots of exhibitors showcasing their coming Autumn Winter collections. I’ve used a few days now to let it all sink in, and I would love to share what I found to be the highlights with you.

I had a chance to inspect the shoes from PomPom. I had previously seen them online and read all about their philosophy about creating high quality children shoes that doesn’t cost a fortune. Super soft leather and lovely finish confirmed my expectation and I can’t understand otherwise than that we’ll be seeing a lot more of this Danish newcomer on the British market.

I had high expectations for MeMini’s collection in advance and was very happy with what I saw. We can look forward to a luxurious and subtle AW collection, and the agent could happily confirm that there had been a great response on it as well.

Lille Barn was another pleasant, and to me a new, acquaintance. The Norwegian designer was present at the fair with her eco friendly collection very much inspired by Norwegian knitting traditions. Lille Barn clothing is for children aged 0 – 6 years. Shame as Beatrice would have loved it. Améllie on the other hand can look forward to some very lovely pieces this coming autumn.
Most charming stand I visited must have been Tiny Doe from Norway. The design team could proudly present a small but very innovative collection based on a animal, this time a rabbit. And I loved their accessories. As newcomers they told me they felt warmly welcomed by both press and visitors at the fair.
The best find must however be Danish Drappa Dot. With a unusual combination of fabrics, colours and patterns the collection was very Bohemian Chic. Feminine, organic and simply gorgeous.

There was a lot of bright colours and bold prints as well, but what I found very new and intriguing was Danefaes prints; A fox and a grizzly bear captured my attention, both inspired by Denmark’s most legendary sagas.
