The Norwegian designer Kristine Vikse was the very first designer to ever be published on Little Scandinavian with her children’s label called MeMini. The nostalgic designer wear for children from 0 to 10 years has since then proven to be one of the most successful brands for children in Norway. A new baby prince and princess are born in Denmark.

This morning Crown princess Mary gave birth to a baby boy and a baby girl, congratulations!
The Crown Prince and the Crown Princess of Denmark already have two children, 5-year-old Christian and 3-year-old Isabella.

The Crown princess dresses her children beautifully and tend to choose Scandinavian labels with high quality. We think Spring Summer 2011 news from MeMini would be perfect for the newborn set of royal twins.

Memini Autumn Winter 2010

The autumn winter 2010 collection from Norwegian label MeMini is about to arrive in the shops. And MeMini really shows off with their high quality knitted garments in the nostalgic style we love. There are quite a few must haves here; Like the knitted vest for the boys and the knitted dress for girls as shown below.

Also worth having a look at is the jeans collection from MeMini as it is so comfortable yet stylish.
And we’ve previously mentioned the rain wear. The Memini raincoat is our favourite piece for this coming rainy season!

Highlights of Bubble London

Visiting the largest trade fair for children’s clothing in the UK, Bubble, was fun and slightly hectic as it should be with lots of exhibitors showcasing their coming Autumn Winter collections. I’ve used a few days now to let it all sink in, and I would love to share what I found to be the highlights with you.

I had a chance to inspect the shoes from PomPom. I had previously seen them online and read all about their philosophy about creating high quality children shoes that doesn’t cost a fortune. Super soft leather and lovely finish confirmed my expectation and I can’t understand otherwise than that we’ll be seeing a lot more of this Danish newcomer on the British market.

I had high expectations for MeMini’s collection in advance and was very happy with what I saw. We can look forward to a luxurious and subtle AW collection, and the agent could happily confirm that there had been a great response on it as well.

Lille Barn was another pleasant, and to me a new, acquaintance. The Norwegian designer was present at the fair with her eco friendly collection very much inspired by Norwegian knitting traditions. Lille Barn clothing is for children aged 0 – 6 years. Shame as Beatrice would have loved it. Améllie on the other hand can look forward to some very lovely pieces this coming autumn.
Most charming stand I visited must have been Tiny Doe from Norway. The design team could proudly present a small but very innovative collection based on a animal, this time a rabbit. And I loved their accessories. As newcomers they told me they felt warmly welcomed by both press and visitors at the fair.
The best find must however be Danish Drappa Dot. With a unusual combination of fabrics, colours and patterns the collection was very Bohemian Chic. Feminine, organic and simply gorgeous.

There was a lot of bright colours and bold prints as well, but what I found very new and intriguing was Danefaes prints; A fox and a grizzly bear captured my attention, both inspired by Denmark’s most legendary sagas.

The playsuit

A playsuit is by definition a play outfit usually consisting of shorts and a blouse, sometimes in one piece, that is often worn by children.
There were several designers creating beautiful playsuits last year. And a quick look at the spring summer collection 2010 reveals that the playsuit is here to stay, at least for now.
I can’t really make up my mind which one I’ll choose for Beatrice and Amélie. But I’ll for definitivt consider both playsuits from MeMini and Petit by Sofie Schnoor.

The “Molly to Rose Flower” blouse by MeMini from their Girls Style Autumn 09 collection is just gorgeous with so many details and in beautiful autumn colours. The blouse is in heavy cotton, easy to iron and Amélie just loves it!
This blouse is available in sizes 92cm – 140cm. Retail price in Norwegian online shops is approx £45.

Millie Kae inspired me to show some newborn clothes.

MeMini have just launched their knitwear for autumn 09, and with a newborn who can resist to purchase any of this gorgeous items?

I have contacted MeMini regarding retailers in the UK. So far there is none, but there is an agent working on it, and hopefully MeMini will be available in UK shops from 2010. I will keep you posted. :)
