Saturday Sweets

In Norway “Saturday Sweets” are still the normal practice and attitude towards sweets when raising children. It makes it easy to make sure that your everyday isn’t filled with sweets and unhealthy foods since there is a special day for it.

In our home the girls (and the Scandinavian Dad!) usually get a bowl each with a mix of their favourite sweets. This for not to put a stress on the ones who don’t want to eat as fast (as dad).

We would try to choose chocolate before more artificial alternatives. But of course a compromise so the treat will not be too boring.
The girls do not eat sweets before or after school and therefor this is something they look forward to.

Beatrice and I visited a lovely old sweet store in Covent Garden this week, and purchased a bag of lots of naughty sweets for each “Good girl” as it said on the label. It’s waiting in the kitchen, and the girls are so excited and can hardly wait.

Ida’s dress

A Swedish designer is behind the french label La robe d’Ida that presents a reinterpretation of the pinafore dress worn in Sscandinavia during the 1920s. Inspired by Astrid Lindgren’s books and the characters Madicken, Lisabeth, Kajsa, Anna, Britta and especially Emil’s little sister Ida. These are young heroins with strong personalities, lots of imagination and who are full joy and life.

In my forest, dusk and dawn have the time to say hello to each other… The nights are white and the animals no longer have to hide. The fox jumps around just near me. The rabbit follows. We run after each other… between the fir trees, across the path of light.
The Woods of Vilhelmina are unlike the others. They are soft; under our bare feet lie an ocean of green moss. The dragonflies land on my back, the anemones leave petals on my skin. The mystery, the magic and the sun that never sleeps… everything belongs to me.

The collection “In the Woods of Vihelmina“ was created in collaboration with the illustrator Anna Karlson.

New brand alert: Ewa i Walla

New brand, or at least to me(!) Ewa i Walla creates beautiful pieces for girls age 2 – 8 years, and for their fashionable mums.
Swedish label Ewa i Walla was founded back in 1990, and presents two new collections every year. Their first children collection was launched AW09.
The collection has a sense nostalgia and is a unusual mix of countryside romance and haute couture and it’s made by natural fabrics like cotton, linen, silk and wool.

Getting dressed should not be a matter-of-fact, it should not be a task accomplished in a whisper of time and with as little thought involved as possible. Even from a young age, children have temperaments that are distinctly theirs. Why not let their creativity be shown through their clothing!!

This is the perfect label to look into if you are having a very special occasion coming up or just simply want to stand out from the crowd.

One thing is for sure, this dress (in picture) will turn heads!

Retro wellies from Petit

Retro wellington boots from danish designer Petit by Sofie Schnoor is arriving in the shops these days.
Simple style, quite nostalgic and a bit retro. Reminds me of a pair of blue Norwegian Viking wellington boots I used to have as a child. -Which I loved!

Visit PetitbySofieSchnoor.com for more footwear and to find out where to get hold of a pair.

Wellies presented to you on a rainy day. Where did the sunshine go?

MaLou Barré – Spring/Summer 09

MaLou Barré established in 2007 is characterized by exclusive children’s clothing in sizes from 2-10 years. Their collections are classic, elegant and very romantic with subtle colours and details.
The clothing’s are made in an old fashioned way, with embroidery and crouched details. The dresses are lined and have such a beautiful finish that they are sure to turn heads.
The boys clothing are comfortable and made in pure fabrics. Malou Barré thinks children should wear clothing’s for children, that looks good, are comfortable and that washes well.
Many people would think that this is a French brand. But it is in fact Danish, and not as expensive as you might would think.

Pictures shown are from SS09. I’m currently looking forward to receive images from SS10.
