A family day out in Stoke Newington, London

Among lot’s of independent design and clothing shops in the lovely village Stoke Newington, located within Hackney Borough in North London, were Olive loves Alfie. This is a sweet little shop with a great selection of Scandinavian brands like Katvig, Molo, Mini Rodini, Ver de Terre, Little Duckling and many more. And they were having a sale too! The shop is located in one of the main streets of this interesting village, were commercial and residential houses lies side by side.

Knit with attitude, inspirational tiny shop with great atmosphere offering environmental friendly knitting products, produced with ethical consciousness. Get advice from charming and knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit.

Stoke Newington Bookshop, an award winning independent bookshop with a huge selection of especially children’s fiction served by a helpful and lovely team that will guide you through the store. Next picture; local pub near by. In fact there was a huge selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants. We ended up having coffee and cake at the Blue Lagoon, but sadly the cake was to delicious so it was eaten before I thought about taking a picture… Next time!

Stoke Newington as a village is quite small but is packed with lots of exciting independent shops. The girls loved visiting and we can highly recommend it to all families who would like a day out in London, as a alternative to the more touristy and known places in the inner city center.

How to get there:
By tube, Victoria Line to Seven Sisters. Bus to Stoke Newington.
By train, 13 minutes from Liverpool Street.
By car, lots of parking spaces pay and display available.

We love exploring London and will be sharing a lot of our good finds with you this year. Watch this space.

The Norwegian family run design company Blafre has since 2005 produced retro stationery.
Recently they extended their product range to include super cute and very 70′ thermos flasks, drinking bottles and tin lunch boxes all made from recycled stainless steel.

This thermos flask is perfect when you want to bring a hot drink your child can enjoy outside, either if you are on a walk in the countryside or if you are at ice rink in the city!

Oh, how I wished the girls School would consider allowing something else than only water in the drink bottles for lunch, especially on a wet and grey day like this! Healthy, cold and miserable or unhealthy, warm and happy… You choose!

Preview Shampoodle Spring Summer 2010 collection

I find the Swedish label Shampoodle as something really different. Something new. They take comfort to a new level, with their loose fit combined with super soft viscose and organic cotton.
Shampoodle, founded by Helene Stevenberg and Jakob Wästberg, launches two collections by theme every year, spring/summer and autumn/winter, for children 0 – 10 years. Most clothes are unisex, and made to grow in.
And as Shampoodle say: “Shampoodle always delivers value for money – otherwise it’s no fun.”

Shampoodle Spring Summer 10 collection, available in stores from February 2010. You’ll find Shampoodle at Olive loves Alfie, BeBaBoo, Dolly Rockers, little baby company and Nordic Kids.
