ImseVimse was founded in 1988 and is based on the picturesque island of Gotland, in the Swedish city of Visby , which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Visby is a popular vacation destination for Scandinavians during the summer and receives hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
Gotland is also known for being a environmental concerned, where everyone are expected to become involved: the business and public sectors, as well as the municipality’s individual residents at work, in their leisure activities and at home. Everyone contributes to the development and formation of the Eco-municipality of Gotland.
The company ImseVimse is no exception. Right from the beginning they have marketed their products on the basis of their benefits to the environment and health, with their aim to be the most environmentally friendly company in the industry. The company was founded by Marie Walleberg when her daughter developed contact eczema from wearing disposable diapers. The problem disappeared when she wore cloth diapers.
ImseVimse produce and sell a range of products in organic cotton; nappies, training pants, swimming nappies, towels and blankets. For more information visit UK stockist coolinclothes.co.uk

Searching for Norwegian salmon and Prim (soft brown goat cheese, which the children loves) on Scandinavian Kitchen.co.uk I stumbled over the newish brand Floppy Buddha instead, set up by Swedish designer Annika Andersson.
The rather small yet fun collection consist of environmental friendly clothes for babies presented on quite an entertaining website! Not completely done, some pages are still under construction, but do have a look!

Picture shows the Panda sleepsuit, available in sizes 3-18 months, £24.

Brokiga is a collection of quality products for children, inspired by the characters from the Who?- series. The line consists of clothing and furnishings, bedding and other items for the child’s room.
Stina Wirsen is in collaboration with her mother Carin Wirsen the swedish author of about 40 popular children’s books. The philosophy behind these books is that the small child should be taught skills such as counting and reading in a pleasant way, stimulating the child’s natural curiosity and will to explore. They are expressive and cute without being too cutesy. Happiness, mischievousness, frustration and anger are emotions expressed within this world.
The brand is also very environmental friendly with organic and ecologically sound production. For example the cotton products are made of organic cotton and the prints are produced in Sweden on climate compensated paper.
Brokiga is available online from Sweden at House of Hedda

I find the Swedish label Shampoodle as something really different. Something new. They take comfort to a new level, with their loose fit combined with super soft viscose and organic cotton.
Shampoodle, founded by Helene Stevenberg and Jakob Wästberg, launches two collections by theme every year, spring/summer and autumn/winter, for children 0 – 10 years. Most clothes are unisex, and made to grow in.
And as Shampoodle say: “Shampoodle always delivers value for money – otherwise it’s no fun.”
Shampoodle Spring Summer 10 collection, available in stores from February 2010. You’ll find Shampoodle at Olive loves Alfie, BeBaBoo, Dolly Rockers, little baby company and Nordic Kids.

Two mothers living in Denmark founded Esenica in 2006. Esenica makes beautiful simple knitted garments from natural products like Alpaca, Llama and organic cotton. All their products are made by people working under the fairtrade principle. It’s made with care, with attention to details. And the result is gorgeous. Simple, natural and beautiful.
I’ll let the picture speak for themselves.
