The furniture shop your knight or princess would love

Rikke Baek and Anette Schack founded the Danish company Fairytale Design in 2003 with the aim of creating imaginative furniture for children 0-8y. Choose between 6 different children’s furniture lines; Soldier, Knight, Pirates, Prince Little, Princess, Ballerina, Lady and Puppy.
Shown below is Ballerina and Soldier.
All furniture, textiles and accessories are made with environmental care. Read more about fair trade and slow fashion here.

With lovely illustrations, Flash Player and music the web page www.fairytaledesign.dk would be fun for your child to visit as well.
In fact I think they would love shopping for furniture when they have the opportunity to catch butterflies at the same time!

Bundgaard shoes goes organic

During Copenhagen Fashion Week this August at CIFF Danish shoe brand Bundgaard launched a collection of organic children’s footwear, following the trend with all things organic.

It’s the British designer Penny Leese that’s behind the collection. Leeses lives and works in Denmark and she has created her first shoe collection within the brand’s philosophy of creating comfortable footwear that works with the natural development of children’s feet.

The organic collection offers two styles of sandal, three styles of shoe and one style of slippers, all available in red, brown and blue and will be in stores from spring 2011.

Bundgaard is own by one of the oldest and largest shoe manufacturer in Denmark, Sanita Footwear and are well known in Scandinavia for creating high quality footwear for children (similar quality as Bisgaard and Angulus).

We have had Bundgaard sandals for the girls and we were very happy with them. Would love to try out the organic collection too!

Jazzed up AW10 news from Christina Rohde

Being a pioneer in creating Scandinavian children’s designer wear danish designer Christina Rohde started up back in 1991. The label is known for a romantic, nostalgic almost bohemian look with their loose and flowery print on soft cotton made into the most comfortable yet stylish garments.
However it seems like the label Christina Rohde are renewing themselves slightly this season, or so it seems from their presentation of the collection.

And some more AW pics, only a bit more like how we used to know Christina Rohde

If you look closely many of the garments are still the same, with the same typical Christina Rohde signature cut and finish.
So, what do you prefer? The more nostalgic look or the new almost “geek chic” style?

Epla arts and crafts online marked

Like a proper old fashioned marked with lots of individual stalls, where local craftsmen display and sell their gods, Norwegian online site Epla is the viritual version of this.
Founded late 2009 the online marked is already well known within Norway and Scandinavia. It seems like high quality homemade products, often made of recycled materials, are increasingly popular. And I’m amazed how many people who are back to their roots in front of the sewing machine or with knitting pins in their hands!

Have a look at “Barn og Baby” to see unique clothes, accessories, toys and furniture for your little one.
