From Ikea to kids clothes

The Swdish designer Hans-Jörgen Hansson had more than 15 years of experience with pattern design, with work for companies like IKEA. In 2008 he decided a to found the label Eggkids, providing babies and children up to 6 years of age with clothes in bright colours and fun prints made of soft cotton. Long sleeved t-shirt is rrp £15, but not yet available in the UK. This is a sneak peak of their coming Autumn Winter 2011 collection.

Naty and Nature Babycare with new clothing range

Naty is a small entrepreneurial company founded by Marlene Sandberg, a Swedish mother and a champion of environmental causes.
The Swedish based company provides environmentally aware parents organic options in personal care products with their Nature Babycare range.

Soho is a cool chino for boys and girls in soft denim that has been extremely sought after and popular, retail price £61. Picture to the left is from Oii Design’s photo shoot.

I Dig Denim is denim clothes with attitude, for small people with big personalities. Fashion designer Hanna Clavegaard noticed that the market lacked a unique, exciting jeans brand for the little ones and founded the Swedish based company in 2009. I dig denim is all about high-quality denim, unique washes, really good fit and well-considered details for kids age 0-12y.

First Sunday of Advent

To be found in most Scandinavian homes during the advent time is the “adventsstake”.

Adventslys is four candles, traditionally purple in colour but as a modern “all white Scandi Christmas” white is common, placed in the “adventsstake”, a tray or candleholder used for putting the candles on or in. These can be simple or decorated as you please.

One is lit every week starting on the first Sunday of Advent, so that by the Christmas Eve the candles are different heights.
Families usually gather together each Sunday afternoon in Advent to lid the candle(s) and some say a poem together with their children, like the poem Advent by the Norwegian Poet Inger Hagerup.

Each of the four Sundays has a different aspect: joy, hope, longing and peace.

Monamici, the kids fashion designer of the year 2010

The Swedish parental magazine Mama has given the Swedish children’s fashion design company Monamici the title: The Kids Fashion Designer of the year 2010.

We say; Congratulation and well deserved!

The Monamici Company was established in 2005 by the Stockholm based sisters Helene Edsta and Karolin af Jochnick.

Monamici is an ethically conscious company proud to follow global codes of conduct with respect to environmental issues and human rights. They deliver lovely and complete collections twice a year and has within a very short time become a very popular children’s clothing brand in Scandinavia and is about to be discovered in the rest of the world.

Refreshing and unpretentious photo shoot by Tuss

Scandinavia is known for being trendsetting when it comes to fashion and design. I’ve noticed lately that press pictures and press material is produced in a whole new way. No posing and pretty smiles, more having fun and showcasing that the clothes in fact allows it, like earlier mentioned Swedish online shop, Oii Design.

But some takes it even a bit further. We received a press pack from the Swedish children’s fashion brand, Tuss, the other day. Tuss wanted us to know that they had found the ultimate simple solution to advertising for kids clothes: Let the kids do it!
The envelope we received contained a bright orange balloon (which Amélie ran off with…) and some Polaroids clearly not shot by an adult. It was more the sort of pictures you’ll get when your 3 year old ask if they too can take a picture. And it’s indeed interesting and fun to see the outcome. Some of the best pictures we have are shot by our kids. It’s the angel and the real situations they capture so well.
Oh, and the envelope also contained a DVD. Of happy kids playing in their functional clothes and being very unpretentious.

We really found that Tuss managed to make a clear statement here, functional and comfortable yet trendy and well dressed!
